Jersey Shore fans are celebrating Ronnie Ortiz Magro's departure from the show following his latest domestic violence arrest. They are happy to see MTV finally stepping in after years of his same repetitive antics. Ronnie was arrested in April on counts of domestic violence allegations involving his girlfriend, Saffire Matos. He was taken into custody before later being released on $100,000 bail.

Since his recent arrest, fans have been pleading with MTV to fire Ronnie from the Jersey Shore franchise. They feel that he should not be rewarded a hefty paycheck for being a toxic person. Many also fear for the safety of the women he has relationships with. Ronnie has had a history of domestic violence since the early days of the original series. Longtime viewers vividly remember his outrageous and abusive fights with then girlfriend and co-star Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola. These habits later carried over to his future relationships, primarily with ex and baby mama Jenn Harley.

On Thursday, Jersey Shore star Ronnie released a statement announcing that he will be taking some time away from the show. He will no longer be filming new episodes for the foreseeable future. After the news broke of Ronnie's departure from the show, fans could not help but rejoice. This is something that has been strongly desired since Ronnie was taking into custody one month ago. They took to Reddit to share in the excitement of him no longer being on the show. After all of these years of the same drama over and over surrounding Ronnie, it is about time MTV puts an end to it. According to some users, Ronnie had initially revealed that the network fired him following the arrest; however, there is no proof to this claim. One fan speculated that MTV gave Ronnie an ultimatum of either releasing a statement regarding his departure or they would do it instead.

Although this is exactly what Jersey Shore fans have been hoping for, they were not impressed by Ronnie's excuse for leaving the show. Much of what Ronnie said in his announcement was similar to that of what he said following past arrests and domestic violence incidents. He claims he is stepping away from filming to seek medical help for mental health issues as well as to work to better himself as a person. While Ronnie has needed to receive help to resolve these personal issues for years, many feel he should not be using mental health as an excuse for his actions. Others think he deserves jail time despite it already being confirmed that he will not be facing felony charges. None of Ronnie's roommates have spoken out regarding his departure.

Ronnie's announcement about stepping away from filming for the show came as no surprise. Earlier this week, the first Jersey Shore: Family Vacation teaser was released for the upcoming season, in which Ronnie was edited out completely, despite Deena Cortese noting that the entire family was back together. It is unknown if MTV will be removing any scenes from the new season that involve Ronnie or not. If they do in fact keep him in the episodes that he filmed prior to his arrest, they may issues a disclaimer at the beginning of the episode. The new season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation is set to premiere June 3 on MTV.
